How to reduce queues during registration
TNP New Face 2018 for Singapore Press Holdings faced a problem with the gateway on the GEVME cloud not forwarding ports to the processing servers. This resulted in the new orders stored in the queue not being processed, as the queue dispatcher could not reach the processors.
To reduce the drop rate of registered attendees and shorten the check-in delay
To cut the delay in the confirmation email being sent out, and display the registration data in the admin module correctly during registration. Finally, managing the registration and check-in process correctly is also essential.
Ip table configuration rebuild
The engineering team rebuilt and reinstated the correct configuration for the ip tables to allow the ports to be forwarded again.
Problem solved within only 56 mins!
The root cause of this outage was a configuration change in the IPtables on the gateway. There was no data loss as a result of this outage. Thus, no one dropped from the registration, the queue was reduced and the check-in process normalised within 56 minutes. The requirements of the tender specifics were also generally met.
